Capital One Cafe’s Free Drink Deal in NYC - How to Claim Yours Every Monday

Capital One Cafe at Union Square

Hello NYC Lover!

Free coffee in New York City? We were skeptical too. But the Capital One Cafe free drink promotion is very much real and honestly, it’s one of the best deals in the city. Every Monday during MLB season (This year they start a bit delayed), anyone can walk into any Capital One Cafe NYC location and claim a free handcrafted beverage. No Capital One account required. No catch. Just show a pass on your phone and walk out with an iced matcha latte or a cappuccino that would normally set you back $7 or $8.

We discovered this completely by accident last year when we spotted a queue snaking out of the Union Square location on a Monday afternoon. When we found out why, we immediately signed up. Here’s everything you need to know.

What Exactly Is the Capital One Cafe Free Drink Deal?

The promotion is called MLB Mondays, and Capital One has been running it in partnership with Major League Baseball. The idea is simple: every Monday throughout the MLB regular season, any Capital One Cafe location in the country offers one free handcrafted beverage to anyone who walks through the door. We’re not talking drip coffee from a machine - we mean a proper barista-made drink from their full Verve Coffee Roasters menu. Lattes, matcha, cold brew, espresso drinks, seasonal specials - it’s all included.

In 2026, MLB Mondays runs from May 25 til September 7. That’s potentially months of free drinks if you make it a Monday habit - which, after trying it once, we absolutely did.

And yes - you do not need to be a Capital One customer. That’s the part that surprised us most. The cafes are genuinely open to everyone, and the free drink deal is no different. If you do happen to bank with Capital One, you also get 50% off handcrafted drinks every other day of the week as an additional perk, but that’s a separate story.

How to Get Your Capital One Cafe Free Drink: Step by Step

Based on how it worked in 2025, here’s the process — and it takes about two minutes:

  1. Go to the Capital One MLB Mondays sign-up page.

  2. Enter your phone number. You’ll be asked whether you want your pass added to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. Pick whichever you use.

  3. Check your texts. Capital One sends a link almost instantly. Tap it, and your digital pass is generated and saved to your wallet.

  4. Walk into any Capital One Cafe on a Monday. Order whatever you like from the full menu, then show the barista your wallet pass when you pay. That’s it.

The pass stays in your wallet for the whole season, so you only need to sign up once. One free drink per Monday, every Monday, until the end of the regular season.

Pro tip: Mondays do get noticeably busier at these cafes during the promotion. If you’re on a tight lunch break, try going mid-morning or after 3pm - the lines are much shorter.

Capital One Cafe NYC Locations

There are five Capital One Cafe locations across Manhattan, which means the deal is easy to reach from almost anywhere in the city:

Hours (Mon–Fri): 7:30am - 7pm

Hours (Sat–Sun): 9am - 6pm

Our closest is Columbus Circle, which is where we’ve been going. It’s a big, airy space with plenty of seating, and the staff there have always been friendly - not in a pushy “let us sell you a credit card” way, just genuinely welcoming.

What Is a Capital One Cafe, Actually?

Fair question. If you’ve never been inside one, the concept takes a minute to wrap your head around. It’s part coffee shop, part bank. But it doesn’t feel like either of those things in the traditional sense. There’s a proper barista bar serving Verve Coffee Roasters, which is genuinely good specialty coffee. There are also food options - breakfast sandwiches, avocado toast, pastries, grab-and-go snacks - though the food is more practical than exciting.

The space itself is designed for lingering. Free Wi-Fi, loads of outlets, comfortable seating, semi-private nooks you can book if you have a Capital One account. It’s the kind of place where you can park yourself for two hours with a laptop and nobody looks at you sideways. We’ve seen everyone from students to remote workers to tourists taking a break in there.

There are also Capital One Ambassadors on-site - basically bank staff - but they’re not hovering or trying to pitch you products. If you want help with your account, they’re there. If you just want your matcha latte, they leave you alone. In a city where every square foot of retail space feels like it’s trying to sell you something, that low-pressure atmosphere is actually kind of refreshing.

Pumps or Sneakers?

👟 Sneakers

Capital One Cafe is very much a sneakers spot. It’s casual, relaxed, laptop-friendly, and the vibe is closer to a co-working space than a coffee shop with a dress code. You’re here to grab a great free drink, maybe sit and get some work done, and leave without spending a dollar. Pumps are welcome, of course — Tanin has turned up in heels more than once — but nobody is getting dressed up for this. Think comfy Monday energy.

Bye, see you next time!

Hugs, Kisses, and NYC Wishes! ♥️
